The retirement of LANL: the rest of the story

If people want to continue to post information about LANL once the other blog closes, they can post it here.

Beyond the standard civility constraints of a blog, here are the rules.

  1. I am not posting things to fill up space.
  2. I will post things that are relevant to the future of LANL workers and Northern New Mexico.
  3. If someone wants to help out, I welcome it.
  4. Non substantive comments will be deleted
  5. Anonymous postings or comments are allowed.
  6. Non anonymous postings and comments are much preferred.
  7. Ad hominem attacks will never get posted as comments.

NNSA's New Contracting And Acquisition Strategy should pretty much solidify the long-term presence of Bechtel, Babcock & Wilcox (B&W) &Honeywell & therefore ensure the continued life of LANS.

I hope I'm wrong & that LANL returns to its former success.

Lab Director Letters on JASON Life Extension Report Released in Advance of Nuclear Budget Hearing

Congressional Desk
March 29, 2010

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Michael R. Turner (R-Ohio-3), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Strategic Forces Subcommittee, released letters he received from the directors of the nation´s nuclear security laboratories in which they commented on the findings and recommendations of a recent report, Life Extension Options for the U.S. Nuclear Weapons Stockpile. The report was released by the JASON scientific advisory panel in November 2009.

Long shot- but I hope these letters will change Obama's decision to eliminate RRW/WR1 funding.

One way or another, sooner or later, it will have to happen.

Bechtel-Jacobs seems to be leaving ORNL to be replaced by someone else.

Could you fill me in on the new NNSA contracting strategy that makes you think LANS will last a while?

Nuclear budget hearings

Why would Obama change his position based on a couple of letters from Republican Congressmen?
